The Guardian is Hanuman the Monkey Ruler. Hanuman actually has a monkey face with a gaping mouth and a bejewelled fang in the centre of his hard palate.
When Hanuman uses all his magical power, he has four faces, an ordinary monkey face and three small faces at the back of his head. Hanuman was the son of Vayu, the God of the wind, and Anjana, a celestial nymph. If you wonder how the son of the Wind God and a nymph turned out to be a monkey, the answer is that Anjana once angered a sage who cursed her to be born as a monkey.
